12th March 2016 – Redbridge Lower Circuit Race – 4th Category only. Using the same bottom circuit as the 6th March race training (without the infamous Hog Hill). Our first event will be for 4th category riders only. Ideal for new racers. Enter here.
20th March 2016 – Ipswich BC Spring Scramble Road Race – Category 2/3/4. Slight course change – longer circuit, narrow road now not used. 4 short climbs, the rest of the course is flat. Entry opens 1st February here.
24th April 2016 – Essex Roads Road Race – Category 2/3/4. Same course as last year. Got information on the course? contact us. Last year’s race was watched by local pro Alex Dowsett! Due to the nature of the course, there will be a strict time cut-off. Riders falling behind the lead bunch will be asked to leave the race. Entry now live here.
2nd May 2016 – Ixworth Cycle Races – Criterium – Category E/1/2/3/4. Town centre crit with racing for everyone. Festival vibe. Fast racing and lots of spectators, but welcoming for everyone. Likely to have transponders this year – less issues with results! Entry now live here.
28th May 2016 – SDCC Woodbridge Circuit Races – Category E/1/2/3/4. takes place on a dis-used airstrip. Very flat and generally windy. Wide corners. Entry now Live here
9th June 2016 – Redbridge CC Summer Series Round 6 – Category E/1/2/3/4. Evening circuit race on the “Hog Hill” circuit. Entry now live here.
15th June 2016 – Lotus Cycle Racing League – Category E/1/2/3/4. Evening circuit race. Lotus League are once again holding women’s races on the Lotus formula 1 test track. It’s pan flat – you could play bowls on it, with flowing bends. Wednesday evenings, so good if you can get there after work/ school/ college/ uni!
June 15th will be one of our league events.
Entry to these events is different from normal due to the sensitive nature of the site –
1. You need to register your intent to ride by the Friday before the event (no payment is taken at this point and there is no obligation to ride)
2. You will need to fill out an indemnity form to take with you to the event. No access will be granted to the site without one.
3. Entry on the day only. Cost is £20 + a refundable £20 on return of the transponder.
4. No photography is allowed on the site, no riding in the car park, no speeding on site (cars), no going near the Lotus cars. This is strictly policed on request of Lotus in order to keep the venue.
22 June 2016 – Suffolk Cycle Race Series Week 1 (of 6) – Category E/1/2/3/4. Midweek race with bargain entry fee of £5 (EOL). These races will be held weekly for 6 weeks, so if you enjoy the first race, why not attend them all! Races are timed with MyLaps transponders. More information here.
25th June 2016 – VC Norwich Road Race – Category E/1/2/3/4. Entry now live here.
17th July 2016 – Welwyn Garden Petit Tour – Category 2/3/4. Part of the Tarmac Tour of Hertfordshire series. Closed road town centre crit racing. This event promises to be a lot of fun with additional races including folding bikes, an elimination race, races for novices and activities for children. This event will also form a round of the GB National Paralympic Road to Rio series, so plenty of spectating to do! For more information, please click here. Entries now being taken here.
31st July 2016 – Diss CC Road Race – Category 2/3/4. New race for 2016. Entries now open here.
21st August 2016 – CC Sudbury Summer Road Race – Category E/1/2/3/4. the region’s first ever women’s Regional Championships. Your chance to race the best in the region and find out where you come. Entry now Live here.
3rd September 2016 – Old Buckenham Races – E/1/2/3/4 Crit. New event for 2016. Entry now live here
24th September 2016 – Islington CC Road Race – Category 2/3/4. New race for 2016. CANCELLED

22nd March 2015 Ipswich BC Spring Scramble Road Race – Will be 2/3/4 only in 2015 rather than the full E/1/2/3/4. This races was fantastically well run and organised in 2014, great roads and lots of good reviews from riders. We are pleased to have it back again in 2015. IpswichBC RR
26th April 2015 Essex Road Club – 2/3/4 Road Race. A brand new road race for the region, we are really pleased to include it in our league. This race clashes with the Cheshire Classic National Series race, so the top riders will be racing elsewhere providing a great opportunity for local riders to show their talents. 4th May 2015 Ixworth Cycle Races – E/1/2/3/4 Criterium races set in the town centre. In 2015, for the first time the women’s race will be a completely separate from the men’s. Organised by West Suffolk Wheelers. 40mins long. Ixworth Races
14th May 2015 – Redbridge CC Summer Series Round 2 – E/1/2/3/4 Criterium races held at the Redbridge Cycle Centre (aka Hog Hill). The series has been running successfully for a number of years, but this is the first time that we are including two of the 11 rounds in our league. Redbridge Crit
23rd May 2015 MOD Woodbrige Autostrasse Porch RT Crits – 2/3/4 criterium held on the Woodbridge airfield. Last year was a rather cold, wet and windy affair, echelons being the format of the day. Details for 2015 to be confirmed. MOD Woodbridge
30th May 2015 – CC London Hog Without the Hill Summer Series #1 – E/1/2 and 3/4 Criterium. Another race held at Redbridge Cycle Circuit, but for the first time, this will be held on only the bottom circuit – no hill! Currently there are 3 races in the series. 7th June 2015 – Tour of Heartfordshire Round 1 – Bricket Wood 1/2/3/4 Criterium. Part of the exciting Hertfordshire Year of Cycling Fesitval, we have our first ever event in the county of Hertfordshire. A welcome addition to the league. The Tour of Hertfordshire is a series of 4 criterium races held on closed roads in 4 different locations around Hertfordshire and we’re pleased to include all four to the league. 10th June 2015 Suffolk Cycle Racing Series Week 1 – Mid week evening criterium held in Ipswich by a collaboration between a group of 5 or 6 local clubs. This series has been adjusted this year to be categories 2/3/4 and a completely separate race than the men (previously held at the same time as the “men’s” race). The race is 30mins long and entry is on the day only. Elite and 1st cat women are welcome to ride in the open race, but won’t get league points. There are another 5 weeks of this series, so if you like what you see in week 1, race the others! Event link: SCRS week 1
14th June 2015 – Letchworth Grand Prix Cycling Festival E/1/2/3/4. Part of the exciting Hertfordshire Year of Cycling event, this is one of a series of 4 criterium races held in 4 different towns/ cities in Hertfordshire. All 4 of these races will be part of WERL. 27th June 2015 Velo Club Norwich Road Race – E/1/2/3/4 Part of the league last year and the first women’s race run by the club. Good fun event, last year was held on the same day as the village fete. Event link: VC Norwich RR
5th July 2015 – Tour of Hertfordshire Round 3 Fete de Velo – E/1/2/3/4 criterium races. Festival atmosphere. This race is in it’s 3rd year, but this will be the first year that they have included a race for women. Races also for youth and men, so bring the family! Event link: Fete du Velo

22nd July 2015 – Lotus Cycle Racing Series Event 5 – E/1/2/3/4 Criterium, a series of 6 races run on the Lotus Cars F1 test track on Wednesday evenings starting on 6th May. The races will take place every Wednesday in May and then the last two Wednesdays in July, these fit around the Suffolk Cycle Racing Series races. We had one of these Lotus crits and an individual time trial on the test track in 2014.
26th July 2015 – Tour of Hertfordshire Round 4 Welwyn Garden Petit Tour – Women’s Go-Race Criterium. This event is open to 4th category riders and riders without a full race licence only. There are no British Cycling points available in a Go Race, but WERL series points will be awarded. ToH Welwyn
16th August 2015 – Reepham Town Centre Criteriums – E/1/2/3/4. Organised by our TT league sponsor VO2 Sports, this classic criterium racing on fully closed roads through the streets of Reepham. Based on a section of the Norfolk stage of the 2015 Tour of Britain, the circuit is just under a mile long and includes the climb through the market place. Enter here CANCELLED
23rd August 2015 Sudbury CC Women’s Road Race – E/1/2/3/4 this will be the first women’s road event that the club has promoted. 50 miles Enter here
18th October 2015 – End of Season Celebration of Women’s Racing in the East. Come join our celebration, a party of 3 parts:
- CC Sudbury Hill Climb on Watson’s Hill. Take part or cheer on the riders from 11am. Pre-entry only to take part. Visit www.cycleclubsudbury.com/events/hillclimb for further information.
- Afternoon tea. From 1.30pm at Semer Village Hall (Location of the Hill Climb HQ). The celebration is free to enter so long as you bring a sweet or savoury contribution. If you plan on riding to the event and cannot bring a contribution, a £1 donation towards the food will be applicable. We will supply tea and coffee. Please book your place here.
- Awards presentation from 2.30pm to the league winners and other award winners (surprise! It could be you!). There will be time to continue socialising after the awards.
The 2014 WERL calendar consists of a mixture of road races, circuit races and individual time trials.
There are 12 races in total and each riders best 6 results will count towards the end of season rankings. The majority of races accept entry on the line however many organisers allow advance entry and we would encourage you to enter races in advance whenever possible. This is so that organisers can see that there is interest in the race. A lot of the races are new for this season and there is a danger of cancellations if there is not enough interest and entries in advance of the race.

25th May 2014 Hatfield Puncheur Road Race (East London Velo) – CANCELLED due to lack of entries – this event clashed with some big events nationally. We hope that in future, we will have enough female racers to cover ALL events.
